The Ellsworth High School Alumni Soccer Team defeated the 2016-17 Varsity team 5-1 on Friday, August 19th at Ellsworth High School.  It was a very well played game, and the Alumni featured a minimum of 5 collegiate players and were coached by recently retired Ellsworth Soccer Coach Brian Higgins.

The alumni received 2 goals from Zache Emeigh and a goal each from Logan Dyer, Brandon Braley, and Travis Coffin. The varsity's lone goal was scored by Bradley Smith. Emeigh played collegiate soccer at Husson, Logan Dyer plays soccer at Dean College.

Cote Card mentioned that he couldn't believe he ran 80 minutes during a game. Ellsworth Athletic Director Josh Frost missed an open net. Eddie Butler played goal in an Ellsworth Soccer Shirt from 1976. Travis Coffin represented the class of 1994. Kyle Haslam flew in from Baltimore after being at sea for a couple of weeks to play in the game!

After the game, Representative Louis Luchini read a proclamation from the Maine House honoring Coach Higgins. There was cake served after the game.
