Eagles Tame Ponies 48-36
The Ellsworth Eagles Boy's Basketball Team tipped off the 2014-15 season the right way, with a 48-36 victory over Foxcroft Academy at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Friday, December 5, 2014.
Ellsworth jumped out to a 8-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, and it was 23-20 Eagles at the Half. Ellsworth's defense clamped down on Foxcroft Academy in the 3rd Quarter, outscoring the Ponies 12-5 to take a 35-25 lead after three quarters, en route to a 48-36 victory.
Ellsworth was paced by Nick Bagley, with 24 points including 3 3-pointers. Cooper Henderson, Bruce St. Peter and Alex Braley all had 6 points for the Eagles. Ellsworth was 15-20 from the free throw line.
Foxcroft Academy was led by Hunter Smith with 15 points including 3 3-pointers. Drew Dankert had 11 points including 3 3-pointers for the Ponies. Foxcroft Academy was 6-6 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth starts the season 1-0 and will travel to Hermon on Wednesday, December 10th to play the Hermon Hawks at 7 PM. Foxcroft Academy is 0-1 and plays host to Dexter on Monday, December 8th at 7 PM.
