The case is still an active investigation but police in Dover-Foxcroft identify one of the men involved in a fight earlier this week.

Three men were hospitalized after a fight broke out in Dover-Foxcroft early Tuesday morning.

Dover-Foxcroft Police Chief Dennis Dyer says 48 year old Reginald Melvin was shot and was air lifted to EMMC following the incident.

Police are still interviewing witnesses in the case and are consulting with the Penobscot County District Attorney's Office regarding appropriate charges.

Chief Dyer says the men were all known to each other and police were fully aware of their long-standing dispute with one another.

Chief Dyer says Melvin was shot at the home on Lancaster Avenue where the two other men lived, and was transported back to a home in Sangerville after the fight before anyone called 9-11 to report he'd been shot.
