Dollar General Looks At Sullivan For A New Store

Hard to believe, but a box store may open for business soon in.....Sullivan!

About two weeks ago, developers for Dollar General met with the Planning Board and Board of Selectmen in the coastal town of about 1300 residents.  At this point a building permit has not been filed.  A good source within the town says that the store would sit at the entrance of Sullivan on Route 1and occupy a lot where the Kane house now stands, close to the  beginning of the Downeast Scenic Byway.

Dollar General carries products for the home, back to school supplies, pet supplies, beauty products, food products, toys and thousands of other products.

A Dollar General store can be anywhere between 7,200 and 10,000 square feet.  A Dollar General store with a market within it can be a large as 16,000 square feet.  Dollar General has 12 stores in Maine, with  a store opening in Glenburn in early September and one currently being built on Route 1 in Searsport.
