Folks in Hancock County are invited to enjoy Coffee with a Cop...or, rather, a Sheriff's Deputy, on Friday. Members of the Hancock County Sheriff's office invite residents to stop by and chat, starting at 9 a.m.

Many local law enforcement agencies are taking part in the national 'Coffee With a Cop' program. It's an endeavor to humanize the police departments and give residents a chance to interact with law enforcement in a casual atmosphere. I mean, let's face it, almost any interaction with the police is stressful. Even if you're just being pulled over for a broken taillight, your heart pounds and your palms sweat. This program aims to give the public a less intimidating view of its law enforcement personnel. I mean, they're people, just like us!

On Friday morning, starting at 9 o'clock, members of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office will be at the Dunkin' Donuts on South Street in Blue Hill. They hope you'll stop by, have a cup of coffee (or whatever beverage you prefer), and just chat for a bit. It's the perfect time to discuss any concerns or questions you may have. But they also hope folks will join them just to get to know the people behind the badge!

This will be the first of many Coffee With a Cop events planned by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. Check their Facebook page often because they'll be posting information about future events.
