Coaches Vs. Cancer at EHS

Wednesday and Thursday nights are going to be special at Ellsworth High School. The Ellsworth Boy's Basketball team hosts Orono on Wednesday at 7 PM and then Ellsworth Girl's Basketball team hosts the Red Riots on Thursday at 7 PM. Both games will be on AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio with the pregames beginning at 6:45.

Ellsworth High School is participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer program this year, and this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, having had cancer twice, and both my mother and father having had cancer. Everyone knows someone that has had or has cancer. Cancer in our area is an epidemic.

The coaches will be wearing sneakers, the officials will be using pink whistles. The officials donate part of their checks to organizations that fight cancer. The players will be wearing pink socks.

The Ellsworth Student Council  is also helping to host these games. They will be selling T-shirts, 50/50 tickets and Wall of Hope Cards with all proceeds going towards their Relay for Life team.
