Two chocolate Labrador retriever puppies, one male and one female, were stolen from the back of a pickup truck this past Saturday night at a  Shell station on Moosehead Trail near Interstate 95 in Newport.

The owners stopped to fill up with diesel and then both went into the store for a minute, only to return and find the once locked kennel in the back of the truck opened and empty.

The puppies are six months old.  Dozer, the male dog, weighs about 90 pounds and Raegan, the female weight about 68 pounds.

There is a $1000 reward for the dogs safe return.  This from the Newport Police Department's Facebook page:

The Newport Police Department is seeking your help with locating two 6 month old Chocolate Labs (one male and one female) which were reported as stolen from a vehicle at the Shell station on Moosehead Trail.  This theft occurred between 10:30 and 10:45 on Saturday 9/14/13.  The owners are extremely concerned and would like their dogs back.  If you have any information please contact the Newport Police Department at (207) 368-3263.
