As you drive through the detours, and one way loops please be mindful of the construction workers and flaggers. It's ok to smile and say thank you to the flaggers as you pass them, they're out there working in the rain and heat! Do not speed on the Crooked Road! There is a lot of wildlife, children and residents getting their mail (Only the residents are getting their mail, the wildlife and children aren't)! Pay attention! Don't Text and Drive!

81 Clocked Going Faster Than 70 on Route 1A

Route 1 A is one of the most dangerous roads in Eastern Maine. Friday night, May 12th, the Hancock County Sheriff's Department and Ellsworth Police Department were out en force conducting the first large scale speed enforcement detail of the season, using funding from the Department of Highway Safety. They did this prior to the sobriety checkpoints.

Conversation with Chief Moshier [VIDEO]

Using funding supplied by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, the Ellsworth Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Departments will be conducting sobriety checkpoints which will occur between 9 PM on Friday, May 12th through Saturday, May 13th at 2 AM.  According to the Ellsworth Police Department’s Facebook Page checkpoints will take place along Main Street and Routes 1 and 3.
