Friday night, May 12th, the Hancock County Sheriff's Department and Ellsworth Police Department were out en force conducting the first large scale speed enforcement detail of the season, using funding from the Department of Highway Safety. Using funding supplied by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, the Ellsworth Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Departments will be conducting sobriety checkpoints which will occur between 9 PM on Friday, May 12th through Saturday, May 13th at 2 AM.  According to the Ellsworth Police Department’s Facebook Page checkpoints will take place along Main Street and Routes 1 and 3.
