The MDI Trojans Boys Basketball Team opened up their defense of their Gold Ball in style, defeating the Washington Academy Raiders 79-38 on Saturday morning, February 17th. The Trojans, the 2nd seed, took the lead with 2:40 remaining in the 1st Quarter, 13-10, and never looked back

The 6th seeded Winslow Black Raiders stunned the 3rd seeded MDI Trojans Friday night, February 16th in the opening game of Tourney 2018, knocking MDI out of the Tourney 55-34.

The 6th seeded Ellsworth Eagles fell to the Orono Red Riots, the 11th seed, 49-41 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth, in a Class B North Prelim Game. Orono led for all but 1 minute in the 2nd Quarter. Orono was 14-19 from the free throw line, including 9-12 in the decisive 4th Quarter.

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball season came to an end Tuesday night, February 13th, when the Eagles fell to the Waterville Purple Panthers 47-34 in Waterville in a Class B North Preliminary game

What a great tradition! The MDI Trojans Boy's Basketball Team was met by representatives from the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, Maine State Police, Ellsworth Police and Fire Departments from the Island to welcome them home early Saturday morning, March 4th.

For the first time ever, the MDI Boy's Basketball Team are the State Champions, winning the Gold Ball on Friday, March 3rd, 2017, defeating the Wells Warriors 59-39 at the Augusta Civic Center.
