This is the 1st week of the Detours for the Route 3 Bar Harbor Corridor Construction. Be sure to drive slowly, and follow the signs and directions of the flaggers!  Here's the work plan for this week, ending May 6th. All of this is weather dependent, and the weather isn't looking good!

The Criterion’s New Executive Director [VIDEO]

With the departure of Heather Martin from The Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor, the 1932 Criterion Theatre has hired Tamara Crowley to be the new Executive Director. Crowley, who was working on her 2nd day on April 27th, sat down with WDEA's Chris Popper to talk about The Criterion, what attracted her to apply for the position and what she hopes to accomplish at The Criterion Theatre with the talented group of people who are deeply devoted to the stewardship of The Criterion!

Route 3 Detour Begins Monday May 1

The detours on the Route 3 Bar Harbor Corridor will go into effect on Monday, May 1st according to the Maine Department of Transportation. Traffic coming North (Out of Bar Harbor) on Route 3 will be detoured onto the Crooked Road. Southbound (into Bar Harbor) on Route 3 will continue with travel restricted to one lane.

Changes at Acadia National Park Headquarters

The National Park Service announced on Wednesday, April 26th that they would be relocating some of the visitor services at the Acadia National Park Headquarters to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center from May 1st to October 31st, 2017. Visitors seeking park information and entrance passes will have to go to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center rather than the Headquarters off the Eagle Lake Road.

Business After Hours [PHOTOS]

The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce held a Business After Hours on Tuesday, April 25th at the newly renovated Acadia Welcome Center in Trenton from 5 to 7 PM. The Side Street Cafe provided catering, beer and soda was provided by Atlantic Brewing. There were great giveaways and Jeff Dobbs won the 2 round trip tickets from Bar Harbor to Boston donated by Cape Air.
