Brewer Police have released the identity of a woman suspected of operating a methamphetamine lab out of a local hotel.

Brewer Police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency were called to the Vacationland Inn on Wilson Street Thursday afternoon after the hotel's cleaning staff discovered what appeared to be a meth lab. Agents confirmed the operation and evacuated the hotel while they dismantled it.

Erica Hodgdon, 30, of Brewer was arrested on September 30th on an outstanding arrest warrant for unpaid fines. Officers arrested the woman in room 242 of the Vacationland Inn in Brewer after conducting an investigation into the reported sale of meth by Hodgdon. Officers couldn't substantiate any drug dealing at that time.

Thursday, when Police were called in by hotel staff, they were able to confirm the items to be components used in the 'One Pot' method of making meth. Officers contacted MDEA, who evacuated the building and seized the items inside the room. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection assisted in taking custody of the hazardous materials generated by the lab for destruction. Guests were allowed to return to their rooms around 8 p.m.

Also assisting the MDEA and Brewer Police was the Brewer Fire Department. Anyone with any information about this incident or the illegal sale of drugs in Maine is urged to call the MDEA office tip-line at 800-452-6457.
