Just two days after proclaiming it was business as usual, Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli has been fired by President Cam Neely the team announced.Neely added that an interim GM will not be named at this time and a search for his replacement will begin right away and be led by Neely and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Jacobs.

The team is planning to hold a press conference this afternoon at the Boston Garden to talk about the move.

Chiarelli took over the Bruins in 2006 and built teams that compiled a record of 386-233-85 including two Stanley Cup appearances that resulted in a Championship in 2011.
