Xander Bogaerts hot start to the season continued Friday night when his bloop single in the bottom of the 9th inning drove in the game winning run against the Baltimore Orioles.With the score tied at two, Mike Napoli drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a sacrafice bunt by Daniel Nava. Bogaerts then delivered his second hit of the game softly into right field allowing Napoli to score form second ahead of the throw to the plate and give Boston the 3-2 win.

It was the 8th rbi of the season for Bogaerts who increased his batting average to .395. Ryan Hanigan tied the game for the Sox with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 5th inning, his first of the season.

Koji Uehara earned the win in relief after pitching the top of then 9th striking out two Orioles.

The Boston Red Sox are now 7-3 and 1.5 games in front in first place. The Red Sox didn't win their 7th game in 2014 until their 17th game, when they were 7-10. The Red Sox take on the Orioles in the 2nd game of the 4 game series Saturday afternoon with the pregame starting at 3:20 PM and first pitch at 4:05 with Clay Buchholz on the mound for the Red Sox
