Crews scoured the Penobscot River last night for a person who was believed to have fallen in. This morning, the Marine Patrol reports it aided with the recovery of a body.

Late Saturday night, Bangor Police, Fire, and others began to search the Penobscot River for signs of a person who witnesses say had fallen into the water near Front Street. So far, police have not released the identity of the person or the details surrounding their fall, other than to say that it's an adult male and that there's no immediate indication of foul play.

This morning, the Maine Marine Patrol reported in a press release their assistance in the recovery of a body at around 5:15 Sunday morning. The body was found near Front Street, on the waterfront by the Maine State Police/Marine Patrol Dive Team.

Members of the Marine Patrol operated a side scan sonar to help the Dive Team search the river. The Bangor Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Taylor Bagley at the Bangor Police Department, 947-7384.
