Big Stage, Big Win For Sox [VIDEO]

Rookie Rafael Devers hit an Aroldis Chapman fastball for a 9th inning home run and then rookie Andrew Benintendi singled home the winning run in the 10th as the Red Sox beat the Yankees 3-2 on Sunday night baseball.

The win gives Boston a season-best 5.5 game lead in the AL East Division.

After Chris Sale had dominated for the first seven innings, striking out 12, Matt Barnes gave up the Yankee go-ahead run in the 8th on a sacrifice fly.

That's where Devers comes into the picture. He turned a 103 mph Chapman fastball into a 427 foot home run to tie the game. It was only the second lefthanded hitter to go deep against Chapman in his entire career.

Benintendi came up with the bases loaded in the 10th inning and ripped a single to rightfield for the winner.

Craig Kimbrel did the rest. After a strikeout with the game winning run at third base in the bottom of the 9th, he got the Yankees out 1-2-3 in the 10th for his fourth win of the year.

The Sox take their biggest lead of the season back to Fenway for a makeup game with Cleveland tonight. The pregame starts at 5:25 with the first pitch at 6:10 on AM 1370 WDEA
