Bar Harbor YWCA Seeks Nominations for Girl, Young Woman and Woman of the Year

The YWCA of Mount Desert Island is getting ready to celebrate their annual "Women of Distinction" event, on Friday, October 5th from 6 to 8PM at Kebo Valley Golf Club. This year's theme is "Write Your Own Story" and celebrates women and girls in the community for outstanding qualities like leadership and social justice.

At the event, the YWCA will announce the Girl of the Year (Ages 18 and Under), Young Woman of thee Year (Ages 19-30) and the Woman of the Year (For those 31 and up).

"People can nominate outstanding women of all ages who make a difference in this community,” said Jackie Davidson, Executive Director of YWCA MDI. “You can nominate anonymously as well.  We want as many women as possible to be recognized for what they do to make our community a better place.”

Nominations will be accepted until August 31, 2018. Winners will be chosen and notified before the event and all nominees will also be contacted to let them know someone sees them as a community leader.
