A Bangor man is facing charges after his girlfriend was found dead in their apartment. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 6:30 Friday afternoon and found the body of the woman who lived there, 49-year-old Sherry Clifford.

David Coon, 50, has been charged with murder.

Lt. Tim Reid says the woman did not die of natural causes. "We worked in conjunction with the office of the Chief Medical Examiner who came to the scene and performed an autopsy on the victim the following day, on Saturday." Reid told us. "The results of that autopsy, the cause of death is being withheld at this moment, the manner of death was determined to be a homicide."

Police say Coon made the 9-1-1 call. Police say this is a case of domestic violence homicide. Coon is expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
