Angels Among Us? (Video) Poll
A mystery priest is being called a guardian angel after appearing out of nowhere at the scene of a Missouri car accident and performing a "miracle" before vanishing.
College sophomore Katie Lentz was hit head-on by drunk driver early on Sunday on isolated, cornfield-lined stretch of Missouri highway. The critically injured 19-year-old was found pinned in between her steering wheel and her seat.
About an hour into the rescue attempt, with her vitals dropping fast, Lentz asked rescue workers to pray with her. At that moment, a silver-haired Catholic priest appeared from out of nowhere. The man of God offered a prayer and instilled calm in the now seemingly desperate emergency workers.
"He came up and approached the patient, and offered a prayer," New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed told area news outlet KHQA. "It was a Catholic priest who had anointing oil with him. A sense of calmness came over her, and it did us as well. I can't be for certain how it was said, but myself and another firefighter, we very plainly heard that we should remain calm, that our tools would now work and that we would get her out of that vehicle."
Shortly after, rescue workers managed to free Lentz. When they turned to thank the holy man, he was gone!
The mysterious monk, whom emergency workers believe doesn't belong to any nearby Catholic church, couldn't be found in any of the dozens of photos taken from the accident.
"Where did this guy come from?" Lentz's friend Travis Wiseman asked, speaking to KHQA. "We're looking for the priest and so far, no one has seen him. Whether it was a priest as an angel or an actual angel, he was an angel to all those and to Katie."
