Here's an update on Sheldon.. the dog that was abandoned in Bar Harbor a little bit over a week ago, from Diana de los Santos, the Bar Harbor Animal Control Officer and Director of the SPCA of Hancock County....

Sheldon is now in the loving hands of Maine Sheltie Rescue. I felt it was in the best interest of this fella to be with a foster family that knows the breed and is able to help with his vetting and was outside of our county. I know they will find the best home possible. And the fact that NO ONE stepped forward, and there are some questions I have and will have for who knows how long, I felt that getting him away from here, would give him a fresh start that he so deserves. I have no doubt that there were some of you that reached out to me offering him a home, would have done just that...give him a great home. I had more to think about and I feel like I did the best for him. I am grateful for the outpouring of kindness for Sheldon. I know I live in a dog loving community. We will never understand how something like this happens, and yet we still don't know exactly what happened or why! I will still hold out that someone will come forward and let me know why. There is ALWAYS a way to get help. ALWAYS. Reach out to a shelter, a rescue....but please ask. I talked to Sheldon all the way there, to meet his fosters and I am confident that one day, he and I will meet again and he will let me know what happened. His eyes told me so <3 Hug your pets right now and be the person they think you are
