It's hard to believe it's time once again for the American Folk Festival! This weekend, the Bangor Waterfront will be filled with music and food from cultures around the world. I thought it would be fun again this year to offer a preview of a few of the acts that will be in town for the festival. This time, I even have a performer from Maine!

Frank Ferrel calls his version of music "Just New England Fiddling." Ferrel is considered to be one of the premiere fiddlers playing today, and is largely considered a brilliant composer. You may have heard him on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion."

Jorge Arce and Raiz de Plena will share the Puerto Rican plena tradition when they lead the kickoff parade on Friday, and later when they take the stage for an evening of salsa.

The American Folk Festival will fill the Bangor Waterfront with music Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's free, but organizers encourage people to donate $10 for each day they attend. The money raised at the Festival will help ensure that it continues to be a free event! For a complete schedule of events, log onto the American Folk Festival website. And I'll see you there!
