Acadian Youth Sports Softball All-Stars Fall in State Tourney
For the 3rd year in a row, the Acadian Youth Sports All-Star Softball Team won the District 1 Tourney and advanced to the State Tourney, this year held in Machias.
The Team was managed by Nick Grant with assistant coaches Dave Horner and Tom James. The girls on the team included Soren Hopkins-Goff, Gracie Parker, Taber Allen, Bailey Fitzpatrick, Emma Kennedy, Brooke Goff, Taylor Grant, Claire Moore, Kaya Gray, Mollie Gray, Lily James, Addy Boyce and Grace Horner.
In their initial game, the Acadians fell to the eventual State Champion, York from District 4, 2-1 in a hard fought game. The Acadians had the tying run at 3rd base in the last inning but were unable to push it across the plate.
In their 2nd game the Acadians were down to Bangor, the District 3 champ, 7-0 before fighting back and eventually losing 9-7. The Acadians had the tying run on 2nd base in the last inning.
York ended up winning the State Title defeating Bangor in the final 13-3 in a game stopped in the 4th inning because of the 10 run rule.
