It was a night of firsts for the MDI Girl's Soccer Team in their 6-0 shutout win over the Washington Academy Raiders in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, September 5th. Not only did the Trojans win their 1st game of the season, but 3 girls scored their first varsity goals

The Trojans led 4-0 at the end of the 1st Half. Hannah St. Amand scored her first varsity and career goal at 39:02.. Maddy Candage scored her first varsity and career goal at 34:22 and then Rachel Leonard scored with 32:50 remaining to make it 3-0. Mei Cook scored with 8:40 remaining to make the score 4-0. Assists were provided by Rachel Leonard, Maddy Candage and Zoe Olson.

St. Amand tallied her 2nd goal of the night with 35:29 remaining in the 2nd Half, assisted by Leonard, her 2nd. Julia Watras then scored her first varsity and career goal at the 32:08 mark, to cap off MDI's scoring, with an assist by Candage, her 2nd of the night.

Freshman Sabine Costello Sanders recorded her first career shutout, facing 4 shots with 4 saves for the Trojans. Washington Academy's Naomi Curtis and two others stopped 11 out of 20 shots.

MDI 1-0 will play at Old Town Saturday, September 8th at 11 AM.

Washington Academy 0-1 will play at Narraguagus on Friday, September 7th at 4PM.
